Project: McCall’s 8814, Coat (1952), part 4

March 18, 2013

Readers,

I spent a productive Sunday and part of today making lots of progress since my last post, as you can see.

I now have two units: the coat unit and the lining unit.

I slid the lining unit inside the coat to give you (and me) a sense of what the finished coat will look like.

Here’s the coat with the lining unit slipped inside to simulate a finished garment.

I wish my photos could capture the richness of this deep turquoise lining against the speckled brown wool.  I like this color combination.

What’s left to do?

The lining, attached to the front facings and upper collar.
  • covering and inserting shoulder pads
  • sewing on buttons
  • hemming the coat and lining, and

stitching these two big units together.

So far, so good.

Back to work.

Coming soon!
