Readers,

I’ve been waiting impatiently for our builder to finish the storage space behind the mystery door.

When Daniel looked at the space, you may recall, he said, “This is great! You’re paying for this space; you should use it.” How could I say no to such enthusiasm (and common sense)? In no time flat I was thinking of what I could stow in there. Fabric? Out-of-season clothes? And what would I want to use the newly opened up space for? A decently lit photography zone?
But before this storage space, situated under the front steps of the house, could be finished, we’d have to make sure it would stay dry. And that meant getting rid of our moisture-loving, foundation-hugging shrubbery.

Bet you were wondering what cutting down shrubs had to do with getting things sewn. There is a connection.

We’ll put in some new plantings farther from the foundation that will stay small and pose no moisture threat to the contents of the new closet.
Next: better lighting in the sewing domain!
